Shirley Mae Miles Baker was the second oldest child born to Reddin and Zadie Payne on November 6, 1953, in Chicago. She was called home with the Lord on August 6, 2017 at 11 a.m., with her beautiful children at her side.
The family moved to Peoria and Shirley became a member of New Hope Ministries. She then found God again and became a member of Unity House of Prayer in Peoria, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, with Pastor Wayne Wickware and Bishop Harold B. Dawson, Jr., will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Shirley was a complete joy to everyone she was around. She always had so much love and compassion to share.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching movies, shopping and fishing.
Shirley leaves her precious memory to her son, Willie (Jacqueline) Miles of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Symia (Shawn Drummond) Prieto and Jessica (Eric) Howard, both of Peoria; sister, Lurlean “Peaches” Miles of Chicago; brothers, Ivory Payne of Springfield and Phillip Payne of Champaign; twenty-two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves behind a very special friend, Gwendolyn McBride.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons and a very special nephew.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria.
